August 2021 Newsletter - Fall Semester Begins!
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to Chamberlain School of Ballet’s 45th season. Classes will begin the week of August 16. I am personally grateful to you for your trust and continued support of me, our amazing faculty, staff, and students.
This newsletter has important information and updates to CSB’s Covid-19 restrictions currently in place. Thank you for taking the time to fully read the information being provided.
With the rapid spread of the Delta variant and surge of Covid cases, especially affecting our most vulnerable students, I feel it is important we all do our best to help slow the spread of the virus. My top priority is to assure our students and families that all of CSB’s faculty and staff will be fully vaccinated by September 15.
All teachers will wear their masks while instructing our younger students ages 3-11 yrs. Once the vaccine is available for our youngest students, policies will be revised as recommended. Currently, the CDC recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status.
Given new evidence on the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant, the CDC has updated the guidance for fully vaccinated people. The CDC has added a recommendation for fully vaccinated people, who have come into close contact with someone suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, to be tested 3-5 days after exposure and to wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result. Fully vaccinated people do not need to quarantine if they follow the testing and masking recommendation above. Fully vaccinated people should monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days following an exposure.
In addition to universal indoor masking, CDC recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms to reduce transmission risk.
Chamberlain School of Ballet is gathering COVID vaccination status of students to help with future mitigation. This is recommended, not required. Sharing your or your child's COVID vaccination status is voluntary. Complete COVID vaccination may help students avoid quarantine after exposure in certain instances. Please provide Carolyn Cox proof of vaccination after completing vaccination. Your health information will be confidentially kept by Carolyn Cox.
How to keep CSB a safe space?
Parents are asked to take their child’s temperature before arriving at CSB.
CSB will provide ventilation during all classes.
Frequent handwashing and respiratory etiquette will be observed.
Contact tracing in combination with quarantine and isolation will be observed by those with Covid or with a close exposure of Covid.
Cleaning and disinfection are all important layers of prevention in keeping CSB safe. CSB is professionally cleaned 6 days per week, and UV lamps are used in each studio at the end of the day as recommended by medical professionals.
Students, teachers, and staff should stay home when they have signs of any infectious illness and be referred to their healthcare provider for testing and care. Contact the school’s office regarding illness. You will be notified of COVID exposure and full contact tracing will take place if needed.
Together we will do our best to slow the spread of Covid-19 and its Delta variant.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
UPDATE:
Here is a little more clarification on our COVID-19 policies for all our new parents. As the same as last year, all dressing rooms are closed, so please have your dancer dressed for class but be sure they wear street shoes entering and leaving the school. This helps ensures that our dance floors stay clean. No dance shoes of any kind should be worn outside!
The lobby will remain closed for parents/families to wait for their dancers. On the first of classes, all new families and families of students 3rd grade and under, can come in to get their students situated and meet their teacher. Of course, if you need to make a payment you can come to the front desk. At the end of class, the students are released at the lobby doors, so please meet them right outside after class. No student is allowed to go outside without a parent waiting for them outside. If a parent is not there, the student is allowed to wait in our waiting area. Please be sure to be prompt in bringing them to class and also picking them up from class.
If your dancer has class in Studio #5, please use the Studio #5 door that is down the atrium from the lobby doors to enter and exit the school.

Facility Updates:
It was a challenge as last year I worked closely with the shopping center's leasing agent and property manager with hopes of updating the studios restrooms and lobby. Regretfully those plans did not come to fruition. Minor improvements were made over the summer and we are looking forward to a wonderful year of dance.
