Recital Week is Here! - Important Eisemann Information

Dear Chamberlain School of Ballet Dancers and Families,

As you are getting ready to head to the Eisemann Center for our 2023 Spring Recital, there will be important information you need to know before arriving.

Location of The Eisemann Center: 2351 Performance Dr, Richardson, TX 75082. The performance venue is the Hill Performance Hall, it seats over 1,500 and we hope to have full houses for our hard working dancers.

New this year…. the Eisemann Center has created the “Hill Performance Hall recital informational packet”. The packet is attached, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the information. This will be most helpful to you upon your arrival.

Parking: please refer to the attached packet for parking information.

Check in/check out process for all dancers: please refer to the attached packet for signing in and out procedures.

For our younger dancers (3-10 years/one day per week dance class), please arrive at the theater dressed in costume. Performance hair and makeup is necessary to be done outside of the theater prior to arrival.  For those exceptions, there will be a dressing area off the backstage entrance for parents to assist your child into costume.

Once your child is checked in and dressed, you and your child will need to exit the backstage door and walk around the exterior of the building and enter through the main lobby entrance. Once inside, enter through Aisle 2 to access the theater. Please refer to the Eisemann Center’s recital attached packet for more detailed information and directions.

Please Note*** If your child is in ballet 2x a week or more, they are asked to use assigned dressing rooms downstairs. This enables these dancers to change into costume. These older dancers will enter the audience using the backstage doorway into the HIll Performance Hall stage. These doors are near the check-in table. One parent/guardian is permitted to accompany their dancer into the basement dressing room.

When in the basement area, parents/guardians may be asked to present their wrist band to the security guard positioned outside the basement dressing rooms entrance. This is for the welfare and safety of all, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Security: Please refer to the attached packet for more information.

Note: There will be a handful of security guards on sight to help navigate if you need directions to the Hill Performance Hall. Once you are in the performance hall, that is where you will wait until your dancers’ class is called to the stage to practice.

During the tech/dress rehearsal process dancers in the audience will have access to the stage using a set of stairs. Parents/guardians, this is the perfect time for capturing your dancer’s hard work this season by taking pictures and videos of your dancer on stage. Once your child is finished with their dress rehearsal, you are free to leave or stay and watch the other dancers on stage.

Families of young dancers, when leaving the building, please retrace your steps. You will leave out through the aisle 2 doors, leave using the main entrance and around the building back to the north stage door. Please sign your dancer(s) out at the backstage door location. The Eisemann Center is a venue owned by the City of Richardson. If all children are not signed out, the city will activate an “Amber Alert” for any child considered missing at the end of the evening. We realize this is an inconvenience and greatly appreciate your cooperation with this important matter.

Day of show arrival information:

 4/21 (7:00 pm) and 4/22 (2:00 pm) recitals:

On the day of the recital one day per week dancers and young students are asked to arrive dressed in costume with their hair and make up done prior to arriving at the Eisemann Center. Suggested arrival time is 30 minutes prior to the curtain.  Students in a one time a week class will be held in the backstage hallway by the “check in/check out” table.Chaperones and Chamberlain Ballet dancers will be with each class, monitoring each class and ensuring they are safe.

An important note: Please have your dancer wear street shoes to and from the theater. Remember to bring your dance shoes with you to change backstage into their dance shoes.

Older dancers need to arrive 45 minutes prior to curtain.  All dancers will be called backstage 20 minutes before curtain.  All performers will be brought to the backstage area in performance order. Arriving 45 minutes early will allow the older students the experience of going into their dressing room, changing into costume, and refreshing their hair and makeup and being called to the stage.  A reminder to wear street shoes and bring your dance shoes with your costumes.

If your dancer is only performing in the second act: These dancers will be watching the first act from backstage this year. Plan to arrive at the same time as dancers in act 1.

This year’s recital performances are being filmed by the Eisemann Center technical staff. Chamberlain School of Ballet will have each performance on its Website this summer with a protective password. More information will be forthcoming to all participants, parents/guardians.

We greatly appreciate your trust in our faculty and staff to provide the best possible dance education for your child. We look forward to their continued dance training after the recital. Semester 2 ends on Saturday, May 20th.

Best wishes to all our students for a successful spring recital. We look forward to seeing our amazing and dedicated students on stage next week.

Gratefully yours,

Kathy Chamberlain, Sarah Nell Gable and the wonderful faculty and staff at Chamberlain School of Ballet.
