Chamberlain Ballet Choreography Workshop with Bruce Wood Dance
Choreography
As the representation of expression through dance, choreography gives us the actual roadmap of movement into a dancer’s mind.
This season, in adapting to the curveballs thrown through COVID-19 and the year 2020, Chamberlain Ballet is partnering with Bruce Wood Dance on an educational experience in choreography for our pre-professional dancers.
Beginning with a choreography workshop from 2-4 pm on October 18th, Chamberlain Ballet is excited to welcome Bruce Wood Dance Executive Director Gayle Halperin and Artistic Director Joy Bollinger into the Chamberlain Studios to further introduce the Bruce Wood legacy, catalog, and choreographic style to our wonderful dancers.
We are incredibly excited to begin forging new artistic ground with our dear friends at Bruce Wood Dance. Be on the look out for our upcoming “Chamberlain Ballet Creates” web-series following our dancers’ guided journey through the choreographic process.
Among other aspects of choreography, the workshop will cover:
Artistic intention
Idea-mapping
Improvisation
Effort shape
Time, weight, space, flow, & focus
Shape angular and round shapes concerning
Levels –– low, middle, and high
Voice
Definitions of Dance by key choreographers –– Balanchine, Tharp, Graham, Cunningham, Ailey, etc.
We are incredibly excited to welcome Bruce Wood Dance to the Chamberlain studios.
