Rhymes and Rhythms: Classics

Ages 3-6
Saturdays  9:00-9:45 am
$135.00

Young children learn and explore the world naturally through movement, music and stories.  This class series provides children the time to experience and practice rhythmic patterns, musical phrasing, and various music and dance genres through singing, movement, and instruments.  After initial voice and body warm-up exercises, children will participate in a shared read aloud of high quality children’s literature.  They will have time to act out and extend the text using music, movement, and speaking.  “Rhymes and Rhythms: Classics” looks deeper into classic nursery rhymes, songs, and stories such as “Little Bo Peep”, “A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea”, and “The Little Red Hen”.

Tales and Tempos: Around the World

Ages 6-9
Saturdays  10:00-11:00 am
$150.00

Children ages 6-9 begin to look beyond themselves to the larger world.  While they will find many things different than their own family and community, children can also find commonality and understanding.  “Tales and Tempos” explores the unique sounds, stories, and movement qualities of cultures on every continent so as to gain a deeper understanding of the peoples of the worlds.

“Tales and Tempos” provides children the time to experience and practice the unique music and dance genres of various cultures through a traditional story of the culture in focus.  After initial voice and body warm-up exercises, they will participate in a shared reading of a piece of high quality children’s literature.  Children will have time to act out and extend the text using music, movement and speaking.
