Chamberlain Performing Arts – Company Ballet Auditions August 17th

August 1, 2013, Plano, Texas – Chamberlain Performing Arts, the premier pre-professional ballet company in North Texas, will hold company auditions for its

2013-2014 season on Saturday, August 17.  Local ballet students are invited to attend the audition at Chamberlain’s Plano Studio.

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Ages 14+

3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Ages 11 – 13

Pointe work required.

  • WEAR? Females:  Black leotard, pink tights, bring pointe shoes

Males:  White T-shirt, black tights, white socks, ballet shoes

  • NOTE: Parents must attend a mandatory meeting prior to their child’s audition.  The meeting will be held at the Chamberlain studio on Monday, August 12, 2013, from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Dancers will be advised of the outcome within a week of the auditions.  Kathy Chamberlain is the founder and artistic director of Chamberlain Performing Arts.  This season, Carter Alexander, the former school principal at the Miami City Ballet School will come on board as the associate artistic director of the company, and will also serve on the faculty of the Chamberlain School of Performing Arts where company dancers train.  Lynne Short, formerly the principal teacher at the Ballet Austin Academy, will also join the faculty at the Chamberlain School and will teach company classes.

The upcoming season offers company members a variety of performance opportunities beginning with Chamberlain’s highly acclaimed production of The Nutcracker, which will take place over Thanksgiving weekend.  This production will feature guest artists Tiler Peck and Tyler Angle, principal dancers with New York City Ballet.  In the spring the company will present Focal Pointe, a mixed repertoire performance featuring classical and contemporary ballet pieces.  Focal Pointe will also feature performances by Ballet West dancers Beckanne Sisk and Tom Mattingly, stars of the hit TV show Breaking Pointe.  Both productions will be held in the Hill Performance Hall of the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.
